Cignal inches closer to a quarterfinals spot

MANILA, Philippines — Cignal recalibrated after a second set blip to outplay Capital1, 25-21, 22-25, 25-17, 25-15, and inch closer to a playoffs berth in the Premier Volleyball League (PVL) All-Filipino Conference at the PhilSports Arena in Pasig City on Thursday, March 6.After losing to lower ranked Galeries in the qualification round, the HD Spikers showed that they are back in form and are now one victory away from making the quarterfinals.

Vanie Gandler led the scoring for Cignal with 21 points on 20 attacks and a block. Rose Doria-Aquino chipped in 18 points.Team captain Dawn Macandili-Catindig took care of Cignal's floor defense by tallying 18 excellent digs and seven excellent receptions.Capital1 was led by Trisha Genesis and Leila Cruz, who scored 12 points apiece.Cignal will advance to the next round if it beats ZUS on March 11.

Earlier, Chery Tiggo stamped its class against Nxled, 25-22, 26-24, 25-12.
