Creamline, Petro Gazz to represent PH in AVC Champions League

MANILA, Philippines — Creamline and Petro Gazz will represent the Philippines in the Asian Volleyball Confederation (AVC) Women's Champions League, according to Ricky Palou, Philippine National Volleyball Federation (PNVF) vice president and Premier Volleyball League (PVL) president.

Initially, the PVL 2024-25 All-Filipino Conference champion was slated to represent the country. However, due to the schedule as AVC draw is on March 12, the top two teams from the preliminaries will now participate.

"No more, because the AVC called us and said they need the teams right away. There's still a drawing of lots on March 12 so we cannot wait until the end of the tournament. We talked to the teams and we said after the (preliminary) round, the top two will represent the Philippines and that's Creamline and Petro Gazz," Palou confirmed. The Philippines, as the host country, has the opportunity to have two teams. All countries are entitled to get three imports.

"Yes, (they accepted). We don't know what their plans are because they are entitled to three imports. But we don't know if they will get three imports, although Petro Gazz have (MJ) Phillips and Brooke (Van Sickle) they are considered as imports because they belong to the US federation, so they can still get one more. I don't know what the plans of Creamline are as of this time," he added.

The AVC tournament will commence on April 20-27, at the PhilSports Arena.
