Ex-criminal Peake qualifies for golf's British Open

ARROWTOWN, New Zealand — Former Australian gang member Ryan Peake, who spent time in jail for assault, produced what he called a "life-changing" victory in New Zealand Sunday to qualify for the British Open.
Peake held his nerve for a one-shot victory at the New Zealand Open near Queenstown, earning him a berth at the major championship at Portrush in Northern Ireland in July, pending clearance to travel as a convicted criminal. AFP
