Flying Titans, Angels aim to book playoff berths

CHOCO Mucho and Petro Gazz look to book playoff seats when they clash with Chery Tiggo and Capital 1, respectively, in the qualification round of the Premier Volleyball League (PVL) All-FIlipino Conference at the PhilSports Arena in Pasig City on Saturday, March 1.
Fifth seed Choco Mucho finished the preliminary round with an 8-3 win-loss card and will face No. 8 team Chery Tiggo (5-6) at 6:30 p.m.
In Choco Mucho's previous match against Chery Tiggo, the Flying Titans scored a 25-18, 25-23, 26-24 victory against the Crossovers.
Flying Titan Sisi Rondina churned out 20 points in that match and is expected to lead her team anew on Saturday.
"The win against Chery Tiggo in the preliminary boosted our confidence. In our next match against them, we need to work hard to ensure that we can get the result that we wanted," Choco Mucho head coach Dante Alinsunurin said.
Choco Mucho will enter the qualification round with a six-game winning spree as the purple squad has not lost a game yet in 2025.
The Crossovers, on the other hand, will lean on middle blockers Aby Maraño and Pau Gaston to neutralize Rondina. Former Creamline player Risa Sato will also add firepower to the offensive end of Chery Tiggo.
Meanwhile, No. 2 Petro Gazz aims to make quick work against No. 11 Capital 1 at 4 p.m.
Petro Gazz finished the first round with a 10-1 win-loss card and only suffered a loss from the 10-time PVL champion Creamline.
Brooke Van Sickle continued to prove why she is the reigning Most Valuable Player of the conference after tallying 230 points in the 11 games she played.
In their previous clash, Petro Gazz overpowered Capital 1, 25-19, 25-18, 25-9.
Capital 1 head coach Roger Gorayeb will need big games from Leila Cruz and Jorelle Singh to upset the Angels.
