Holland completes ISSA U19 quarter-finals

Holland High beat Christiana High 82-48 in their rescheduled ISSA Rural Area Under-19 boys’ basketball game to qualify for the quarter-finals that get under way on Monday.

Led by 30 points from Evair Reid-Hines, Holland outscored Christiana 50-25 in the second half to secure their spot in the second round.

Manchester High, Herbert Morrison Technical, Holland High, Belair High, Glenmuir High, and Old Harbour have qualified in both the Under-16 and Under-19 sections, where the top two from each of the four groups, two from each age group, will qualify for the regional semi-finals and national play-offs.

Holland, who were the third-ranked team in Zone B of the Under-19 after the first round, will join Old Harbour, St James High and Manchester in Zone A of the quarter-finals.

Herbert Morrison were drawn in Zone B and will face Belair, Glenmuir, and Holmwood Technical.

In the Under-16 section, Manchester leads Zone A and will face Cornwall College, Knox College and Old Harbour, while Zone B will have Herbert Morrison, Belair, Glenmuir, and Holland.

On Monday, Holland led 15-14 after the first quarter and increased their margin to 32-23 at half-time.

The Trelawny school stepped up the intensity in the second half and led 62-36 at the end of the third quarter.

Reid Hines scored 30 points and had eight rebounds and four steals. Alliston Nelson also scored 13 points and had seven steals, six rebounds, five blocked shots and four assists.

Jaheme Campbell led Knox with 17 points, nine blocked shots and five rebounds while Akeem Mullings scored 12 points.
