My Daily Collagen triathlon kicks off on March 9

MANILA, Philippines — A triathlon sport is often looked at as intimidating due to the rigorous swim-bike-run course, the My Daily Collagen Triathlon aims to change the narrative and bring the sport closer to all aspiring athletes in its fifth year.
The triathlon event will kick off on March 9 in Subic, Zambales, where young, professional, and national athletes will showcase their stamina and grit in the track.
With a theme of "Where Stars Are Born," the triathlon aims to top its previous 400 participants last year and guns for 500-600 participants this 2025.
Athletes can choose from the following categories: Standard Distance ( 1.5km Swim-40km Bike-10km Run), Sprint Distance (750 Swim-20km Bike-5km Run), and Standard Distance Relay (1.5km Swim-40km Bike- 10km Run).
Having the premise of introducing triathlon as a sport for everyone as it also welcomes beginners, Sales Officer Oliver Salas shared that the event serves as a "launch pad" for future triathletes.
"Well, the difference is this triathlon is not intimidating. We want this to become the jump off point, or a jump start if you want to become a triathlete," Sales Officer Oliver Salas said.
"First, the distance is not intimidating. It's short and manageable. Second, as you see earlier, our community is different. For the past five years, there's been a certain bond we can fully relate to each other. So it's not only for professionals only, to make it more easier, and accommodating," he added.
Salas also shared that after the race a festivity awaits for the athletes.
In its fifth year, the triathlon event will have journalist Kara David, former OPM band MojoFly, and actor Kristoffer Martin on the All-Star team.
The My Daily Collagen also backed up Premier Volleyball League (PVL) team PLDT High Speed Hitters for their recovery in their games and looks ahead to incorporate slowly into more sports in the country, bringing innovation in health and recovery.
