Revolut to Scrap Weekend FX Mark-Up Fees for Irish Customers

Online payment and money transfer fintech firm Revolut has announced that its customers in Ireland will soon no longer be subject to weekend mark-up fees on FX (foreign exchange) transactions.

Currently, all Irish customers enjoy currency exchange with no additional fees from Monday to Friday but due to market conditions, a 1% fee on all currency exchanges made on the weekend is applied. However, Revolut is reducing these fees for its paid plan customers as of April 22, when the following currency exchange fees will apply on weekends:
- Premium, Metal, and Ultra customers will now pay no additional weekend fees for currency exchange
- Plus customers will now only pay 0.5% of the amount exchanged
- Standard customers will continue to pay 1% of the amount exchanged
“Our Irish customers depend on Revolut for simplifying their spending whilst abroad, safe in the knowledge that they’re getting some of the best currency exchange rates,” said Malcolm Craig, General Manager at Revolut Bank – Ireland Branch. “The removal of weekend exchange fees for our Premium, Metal, and Ultra customers, and a reduction for Plus customers, is the latest in a long string of benefits for those who love to travel. Customers can spend like a local in over 150 countries, enjoy fee-free ATM withdrawals up to €2,000, stay connected with eSIM data, and make the most of their money wherever they go, 7 days a week.”
