Sisi Rondina proud probinsyana, shares how volleyball changed her life

MANILA, Philippines — In the hustle and bustle of Manila dreams happened — in the province, some stars are born.

Choco Mucho star Sisi Rondina played with pride in the Iloilo leg of the Premier Volleyball League (PVL) 2024-25 All-Filipino Conference, feeling a strong connection with the audience as a fellow "probinsyana" (person who lives in the province.)

Rondina put on a show in front of the City of Passi Arena crowd after chipping in 20 points in a win against Chery Tiggo, 25-28, 25-23, 26-24, last Saturday.

Choco Mucho, a heavily favored squad of the PVL heard the roar of the 2, 997 fans, mostly rooting for them after their sweep win.

For the 5-foot-6 high-leap gunner, this is something she would not take for granted.

"I am so happy, we want them to show what volleyball is. This is the sport where our dreams happened, this is what helped our family," Rondina said.

"This sport is not only just for us but also for our family. I am happy that I gave them a good show, especially for those who can't go to Manila to watch the games live. I am thankful to PVL since they gave them the opportunity to watch their idols live," she added.

Rondina is a Cebu native and his father is a fisherman and driver.

Her life changed when she was scouted and played at the University of Santo Tomas as a volleyball player.

She was known to have a high-leaping ability and power kills that penetrates against taller blockers.

In her years with UST, she steered the Golden Tigresses into the Finals of UAAP Season 81 and bagged the Most Valuable Player award.

Rondina displayed her caliber in the professional league after clinching another MVP title in the 2023 PVL 2nd All-Filipino Conference with Choco Mucho.
