TNT survives furious Rain or Shine rally, takes 2-0 lead

TNT endured a scoreless spell in the final six and a half minutes as Rain or Shine guard Adrian Nocum missed a potential game-tying basket in the dying seconds to give the Tropang Giga a 93-91 win in Game 2 of their PBA Season 49 Commissioner's Cup semifinal series on Friday at the Philsports Arena in Pasig City.
Rondae Hollis-Jefferson's basket gave TNT a 93-80 lead with 6:22 remaining in the game.
But the top Best Import candidate eventually fouled out with still over five minutes left in the game while Jayson Castro hurt his knee in the 3:07 mark and had to be stretchered out of the venue.
Along the way, Rain or Shine staged a vicious 11-0 run behind import Deon Thompson, Nocum and Gian Mamuyac to close in at 91-93.
Both squads though failed to score from there, eventually allowing TNT to cart away with a 2-0 series lead.
TNT took Game 1, 84-81.
Hollis-Jefferson led the Tropang Giga with 28 points and 10 rebounds. Castro added 13 points while three other TNT players scored 10 or more points.
Thompson led Rain or Shine with 22 points, 14 rebounds and five assists. Nocum chipped in 19 points while Mamuyac and Carlan Tiongson netted 11 and 10, respectively.
