Tour of Luzon 2025: The Great Revival kicks off in April

MANILA, Philippines — Ready, set, race.

The Tour of Luzon 2025 is set to return this summer with 15 teams eyeing to take the Philippines' best cyclist honor as they will pedal and conquer seven provinces from April 24 to May 1.

In a highly anticipated return on what was called "Summer Sports Spectacle on Wheels," the competition will have eight stages that will test the grit and strength of the cyclists.

The said tournament starts off with 170-kilometer roundtrip via Pagudpud in Stage 1 in Laoag City to Ilocos Norte on April 24, and an 80-km trail in Stage 2 from Laoag City to Vigan City on April 25.

While the third stage of the race will start from Vigan to Agoo in La Union on April 26, and will pedal 150-km from the south to Clark in Stage 4.

Stage 5 will feature a short trail of 120-kms from Clark toward the New Clark City in Capas, passing through the iconic Sacobia Bridge, while the sixthn stage will cover the Pangasinan Provincial Capitol.

The final stages will give a chance for the pedalists to cool it down with a 30-km individual trial stage in Stage 7 to allow themselves to prepare for the "Big One."

The final stage will test the endurance of the cyclist as they need to grind the 180-km route from Lingayen right on Labor Day and Cam John Hay in Baguio City.

"I am so excited for this return. This is what people look forward to during summer, and this return of Tour of Luzon will be exciting not only for the athletes, but also to the spectators," Philippine Olympic Committee (POC) President Abraham "Bambol" Tolentino said in a press conference at the Lighthouse of Meralco Building.

The revival of Tour of Luzon was initiated by sports patron Manny V. Pangilinan.

"Cycling is all about speed, determination, and the courage to conquer the elements much in the same way as what we do in business," Pangilinan said.

The team champion will be granted a 1 million cash and a year possession of the Tour of Luzon trophy, while the general classification or individual overall champion will have 500, 000 pesos.
