UST sweeps Ateneo, extends win run to five games
MANILA, Philippines — The UST Golden Tigresses blanked the Ateneo Blue Eagles, 25-20, 25-23, 25-21, at the Mall of Asia Arena on Sunday to extend their winning run to five games in the UAAP Season 87 women's volleyball tournament.
Angge Poyos banged 19 points and logged five excellent receptions, and four digs for the 5-1 UST, which runs second to the still undefeated and defending champ NU which is 5-0.
Cassie Carballo dished out 17 excellent sets as Regina Jurado smashed 14 points for the Tigresses, who claimed their first sweep win of the season.
AC Miner cashed in 13 points for the Blue Eagles, who lost Sobe Buena late in the first set to an apparent leg injury.
Ateneo dropped to 1-4, 7th in the 8-team league.
